Saturday Club of Cotter
In 1905, The Saturday Club of Cotter started out as a social club. In 1911, it became a member of the General Federated Women's Club and took the name, "The Saturday Club of Cotter." The club is a nonprofit that has a strong history of giving to the community and schools. It is all about "Making a Difference" in the community. In 1974, the club started a perpetual fund for the Walnut Hill Cemetery. The club donates the interest earned from this fund to the city to help with the upkeep of the cemetery. The club recently completed an update of the grave locator records and installed a directory at the cemetery. The club put the "Yellow Book Box" at Cotter's Big Spring Park so that children could have access to free books. The motto of the club is "Because We Care." The club meets on the third Saturday of each month at 10 a.m.
