Lucky Star Handmade
Lucky Star Handmade is not just a retail shop. It's a 501(c)(3) dedicated to enriching our community and driving economic development through the power of art and creativity.
Lucky Star Handmade is an extension of the Lucky Star Artist in Residence Program in Rush run by Donna Musarra and David Mervis. Over the years, their guest artists and a group of local makers have discussed evolving and extending the program to engage the wider community more fully. "Through a series of happy coincidences and the dedication of committed individuals," Musarra says, "this possibility has now become a reality through Luck Star Handmade, an all volunteer, board-run non-profit charity."
The mission at Lucky Star is to create a vibrant art center that fosters a collaborative space for artists, musicians, chefs, writers, farmers, makers, performers, students, and curious individuals. "It will be a place to explore unique, finely crafted, handmade goods, savor an atisan baked pastry, attend workshops, enjoy live performances, and connect with the creative community," Musarra says.
Artists do not have to live in the area to participate, and participants do not need to be artists. If you like to support the arts, listen to music, take classes, eat delicious foods, and contribute to the economic development of unique small towns in rural Northern Arkansas, Lucky Star is a place for you, too, no matter your age.
